Two Kansas City men, taken into custody late Wednesday with two juveniles, have been charged in connection with an armed robbery in the back parking lot behind businesses in the Brookside area of Kansas City, Jackson County Prosecutor Jean Peters Baker announced today.
Macario Hart and Rashaad Thomas each face Robbery in the First Degree and Armed Criminal Action charges.*
According to court records, four males in a black vehicle pulled up next to a victim the evening of Oct. 2, 2024, in the area of 51st and Oak. The driver pointed a gun at him. They were in a black vehicle that was similar to one reported stolen earlier that evening. Soon, Rockhurst University security reported finding the black vehicle in a Rockhurst parking lot. Another vehicle, a maroon Kia, had been stolen. The vehicle headed south and soon after an armed robbery in the parking lot behind the Brooksider, near 63d Street in the Brookside area, was reported. A maroon vehicle had male suspects inside. One pointed a gun and demanded the victim's purses. Later, one victim was alerted of a fraudulent transaction with her credit card at a BP station. Police obtained video from the station, showing the suspects and the vehicle. Police later spotted the vehicle near 24th and Hardesty and a police helicopter tracked the vehicle, until the suspects fled on foot into the woods off of Sni-A-Bar Road. They were taken into custody. Cards belonging to one victim were found on one suspect. A search of the suspect vehicles produced other items that belonged to victims.
This case investigation continues and other charges may be possible.
