A Grandview man has been sentenced to seven years in prison for manslaughter and child endangerment after his 14-month-old daughter and a woman died in a house fire, Jackson County Prosecutor Jean Peters Baker announced today.
The sentencing came Wednesday after a Jackson County jury in May convicted Stephen D. Elijah, 35, of two counts of involuntary manslaughter and two counts of endangering the welfare of a child.
The Sept. 29, 2014 house fire killed 14-month-old Se’Asia Elijah and Anika M. Hobley, 37, of Kansas City.
Jackson County prosecutors Traci Stansell and Ryan Horsman prosecuted the case for the state of Missouri.
