A Raymore, MO, man has been charged in a fatal shooting in a Blue Spring's park on April 13, Jackson County Prosecutor Jean Peters Baker announced today.
Marquis Earl Savannah faces felony charges of Murder in the 1st Degree and Armed Criminal Action.*
According to court records filed Tuesday, Blue Springs police officers were dispatched on a shooting on April 13, 2024, about 10:30 p.m. Officers found two victims in Wilbur Young Park in Blue Springs, MO. The first victim was in the parking lot near the volleyball courts. A second victim was found near a basketball court nearby. Witnesses told police that a fist fight escalated to a shooting. A pistol, shell casings, bullets and bullet fragments were collected at the scene. Police detectives reviewed camera footage that showed the fight and the shooting. The defendant can be seen charging the victim, then firing multiple shots at the victim. A second suspect drew a handgun and fired shots as well.
Investigation of these shootings continues. The defendant and a second suspect, a juvenile, are not yet in custody.
Prosecutors requested the defendant be held on a $500,000 cash bond.
