Jackson County Prosecutor Melesa Johnson today announced charges against a Kansas City man in connection with a homicide that took place in Sugar Creek, Missouri over the weekend.

According to court records, Sugar Creek officers were dispatched to the area of M-291 and 210 Highway on July 5 on a welfare check and found the victim lying on his back on the bank of a pond. He had a wound on the back of his head.
Detectives received reports that the victim’s brother was responsible for the victim’s death. The defendant later admitted in an interview with detectives that he stood behind the victim and shot him in the head after they got into an argument.
The defendant is being held on a $300,000 cash-only bond.
