A Kansas City teenage woman has been charged in the fatal stabbing late on Oct. 9, 2018, of Alaysia Nelson, 18, Jackson County Prosecutor Jean Peters Baker announced today.
Heaven Leigh Redick, dob: 7/22/2000, faces Murder 2nd Degree and Armed Criminal Action.*
According to court records filed this weekend, police responded to the 9300 block of Bales on Oct. 9 not long after 11 p.m. The victim was found at the scene suffering from stab wounds. The victim's death would later be ruled a homicide. Witnesses told police that Redick produced a knife after she and the victim engaged in a fight. The defendant and the victim exchanged threatening text messages just prior to the fatal stabbing.
Prosecutors requested a bond of $250,000 cash.
