A 75-year-old Lee’s Summit woman has been charged with stealing more than $750 from a Lee’s Summit bank on Jan. 23, 2020, Jackson County Prosecutor Jean Peters Baker announced today.
Bonnie B. Gooch, dob: 8/1/1944, faces the Class D felony of stealing.*
According to court records, police were called to a Lee’s Summit residence on Jan. 23, where the resident told police that his mother was "off her rocker" and had stated she was going to rob a bank before she left the residence in a Nissan SUV. Later that afternoon, police responded to the Bank of the West in Lee’s Summit on M291 Highway. Witnesses told police the defendant passed a note to the teller and requested $3,000. After the teller handed her the money the defendant left the bank. She was taken into custody in a Nissan SUV a short time later. Inside, police found the money and the note she passed to the teller.
Prosecutors requested a $10,000 bond.
