A Jackson County judge on Monday sentenced a Kansas City man to 25 years in prison for breaking into a woman's residence and assaulting her at knife point before she fought back, Jackson County Prosecutor Jean Peters Baker announced today.
Spencer M. Franklin, dob: 3/16/1994, had earlier pleaded guilty to Sodomy 1st Degree, Assault 1st Degree and two counts of Armed Criminal Action. He was sentenced on Monday to 14 years on the Sodomy conviction, five years on the Assault 1st conviction and three years on each of the Armed Criminal Action convictions. The judge set the sentences to run consecutively, as the state requested, for a total sentence of 25 years.
The victims detailed Monday the terrible trauma that the crime created for them. The assaults occurred in the early morning of Aug. 16, 2018. The victims on Monday thanked police, detectives, hospital staff and prosecutors for their efforts to bring justice in this case.
Assistant Prosecuting Attorney Danielle Sediqzad prosecuted the case on behalf of the state of Missouri.
