A 30-year-old Kansas City man has been charged in connection with the Aug. 25, 2018, fatal shooting of Raphael M. Grimmett in the 6800 block of Cleveland, Jackson County Prosecutor Jean Peters Baker announced today.
Brandon E. Neal, dob: 7/8/1988, faces Murder 1st Degree and Armed Criminal Action.*
According to court records filed today, Kansas City police responded to the 6800 block of Cleveland on reported shots fired. The victim later died of gunshot wounds. Several witnesses told police the defendant and the victim had been in a fight and the defendant chased the victim and shot him. Witnesses identified the shooter as the defendant.
Prosecutors requested a $500,000 cash bond.
