New criminal charges have been filed in connection with the May 2023 fatal shootings at the Klymax Lounge in Kansas City, Jackson County Prosecutor Jean Peters Baker announced today.
Isiah D. Clinton, dob: 6/10/1987, faces 3 counts of Murder 1st Degree (A Felony), 2 counts of Assault 1st Degree (A Felony), and 5 counts of Armed Criminal Action (an Unclassified Felony) in connection with the Klymax Lounge nightclub shooting on May 21, 2023.*
According to court records, on May 21, 2023, Kansas City police were dispatched to the Klymax Lounge nightclub at 4242 Indiana Ave. regarding a shooting. Upon arrival, officers located five shooting victims, three who were declared deceased and two who were transported to local hospitals for treatment, where they were listed in critical condition.
On May 22, according to court records, officers on routine patrol in the area of 35thand Prospect identified a vehicle that matched the description of the suspect vehicle observed in the area of the Klymax Lounge at the time of the shooting. The occupants of the vehicle, including Isiah Clinton, who was operating the vehicle with a suspended driver’s license, were arrested and processed at Metro Patrol Division.
Charges were filed on July 3, 2023, but were placed under seal until Clinton could be apprehended. He was arrested yesterday, and the charging documents are now being made public. Although charges have been filed against Clinton, Kansas City police continue to investigate additional suspects and charges.
