A 28-year-old Kansas City man has been charged in connection with the January 22, 2018, fatal shooting of Matthew Suttee, 28, Jackson County Prosecutor Jean Peters Baker announced today.
Marcus T. Franklin, 3/15/1990, faces Murder 2nd Degree, Armed Criminal Action and Unlawful Use of a Weapon.*
According to court records, Kansas City police were dispatched to the area of Gregory and Indiana Avenue on a reported shooting. A witness to the shooting told police that the homicide victim, dob: 12/8/1989, and he were meeting the defendant, who was the victim's drug dealer. They parked in the 6900 block of Kensington Avenue. They met with the defendant, and as the victim was driving away, the defendant shot multiple times at the victim's vehicle. Franklin told Kansas City police detectives that he fired several shots at the victim after he realized that the victim had given him fake money.
Prosecutors requested a bond of $200,000 cash.
