A 39-year-old Kansas City man has been charged in connection with the fatal stabbing of Larry Dickerson on July 31, 2020, Jackson County Prosecutor Jean Peters Baker announced today.
Syan R. Crawford, dob: 8/20/1980, faces Murder 2nd Degree and Armed Criminal Action charges.*
According to court records, Kansas City police were dispatched to Linwood and Benton Boulevard and found the victim, Larry Dickerson, covered in blood. He had been stabbed in the chest. Dickerson would later die, on Aug. 2, 2020, of the injuries he suffered on July 31. A witness told police the person who stabbed Dickerson had a bicycle parked in the entrance of 3206/08 Linwood. Earlier on July 31, the victim had called police regarding a suspicious person at 3208 Linwood. He described him and stated the person was sleeping in the laundry room. A short time after that call, a witness stated he found the defendant sleeping in the stairway of the apartment complex. The witness knew the man as the defendant. Another witness said the defendant had been upset about the victim calling police about him and indicated he would retaliate. A witness told police the defendant was arguing with the victim before he stabbed him a single time and left the scene.
Prosecutors requested a bond of $500,000/10 percent.
