A 29-year-old Kansas City man has been charged with seriously injuring an elderly man while he was a resident at a home care facility where the defendant worked, Jackson County Prosecutor Jean Peters Baker announced today.
Joshuah K. Reedus, dob: 4/1/1990, faces three counts of Assault 1st Degree involving a Special Victim (an elderly person), Assault 2nd Degree and Elder Abuse 3rd Degree.*
According to court records, Kansas City police were alerted on May 2, 2019, by KU Medical Center about the injuries of this victim, an elderly man at a residential care facility in Kansas City. Detectives determined that the suspect had been the person attending to the victim when the injuries occurred. Other caregivers at the facility reported the victim's injuries to the home's managers. The victim suffered injuries to his spine, his face and burns to the lower extremities of his body.
Prosecutors requested a bond of $100,000 cash.
