A Kansas City man has been charged in connection with the Jan. 11, 2019, fatal shooting of Joseph Mason inside a Kansas City apartment near 11th and Hardesty, Jackson County Prosecutor Jean Peters Baker announced today.
Jacob T. Everson, dob: 6/19/1995, faces Murder 2nd Degree, Robbery 1st Degree and two counts of Armed Criminal Action.*
According to court records, police responded to the 1100 block of Hardesty Avenue in Kansas City on reported gun shots. They found the victim unresponsive inside his apartment. He had suffered gunshot wounds and was pronounced dead at the scene. The defendant told police he went to the victim's apartment to rob the victim. He was holding a handgun when the victim answered the door. A struggle ensued and the victim was shot. Marijuana was also taken from the vicitm's apartment.
Prosecutors requested a bond of $250,000 cash. The case remains under investigation.
