An 18-year-old Kansas City man, whose actions initiated an Amber Alert this weekend for a 15-year-old girl, has been charged with robbery and other felonies, Jackson County Prosecutor Jean Peters Baker announced today.
Anthony S. King, dob: 4/08/2000, faces Robbery 1st Degree, Armed Criminal Action and Unlawful Possesison of a Firearm.*
According to court records, the defendant on Thursday, June 21, 2018, shot a 62-year-old man in the area of 27th and Elmwood and took the man's wallet, cell phone and vehicle. The man's 15-year-old granddaughter also left with the defendant. KCPD issued an amber alert for the teen girl. The victim's vehicle was located, and police obeserved King on Saturday, June 23, 2018, entering a restaurant. He was pursued on foot and taken into custody. Officers found a pistol and the defendant told them in an interview with detectives that he had a firearm in his posseission.
Prosecutors requested a bond of $100,000.
