A 44-year-old Kansas City man has been charged in connection with the Dec. 27, 2021, fatal shooting of Naaman Williams at a KC residence, Jackson County Prosecutor Jean Peters Baker announced today.
William F. Betts, dob: 11/22/1977, faces Murder 2nd Degree and Armed Criminal Action charges.*
According to court records, Kansas City police were dispatched to the area of 60th and Agnes Avenue on a reported shooting. They found the victim, Naaman Williams, dob: 3/3/1975, on the steps of a residence. He was declared deceased at the scene. Witnesses told police detectives that the victim and defendant had recently been in an altercation. Betts told one witness he would kill the vicitm.
Prosecutors requested a cash bond of $250,000.
