A Kansas City man faces multiple felony counts in connection with sexual assaults of women over the last 13 years in Kansas City, Jackson County Prosecutor Jean Peters Baker announced today.
Warren E. Carter faces Kidnapping, Forcible Sodomy, Forcible Rape, two counts of Kidnapping in the First Degree, three counts of Sodomy or Attempted Sodomy in the 1st Degree, two counts of Rape or Attempted Rape in the 1st Degree.*
According to court records filed Friday, over the years the defendant has targeted and assaulted women in Kansas City. He offered them a ride or forced them into his vehicle by threatening them with a firearm. He then drove them to a secluded area and assaulted them, forcing them to perform oral sex or raping them. These charges relate to sexual assaults in July 2012, May 2017 and October and December 2019. The defendant has a distinctive characteristic, he is missing his right leg. DNA linking the defendant to two of these assaults currently exists.
The defendant, who is in his 60s, was taken into custody late Sunday and is being held on a $200,000 bond.
