A Kansas City man faces felony charges in connection with the July 23, 2024, fatal shooting of a woman inside an East Side residence, Jackson County Prosecutor Jean Peters Baker announced today.
According to court records, Kansas City police officers were dispatched to the residence and found the victim's sister outside, with a neighbor. They informed officers that a shooting victim was inside with the defendant. Officers entered the house through a window, knowing the victim was inside suffering from gunshot. Officers found the victim and got her out of the residence through the window. She was transported to a hospital, where she was pronounced deceased. A witness told police she was talking to the victim when the defendant shot the victim. The witness disarmed the defendant, ran out of the house and called police. Police initiated an Operation 100 and officers later located the defendant in the basement.
Prosecutors requested a $250,000 cash bond.
