Two additional Kansas City, Kan., men have been charged in connection with the late-February fatal shooting in the Westport entertainment district, Jackson County Prosecutor Jean Peters Baker announced today.
Lavont Carter, dob: 5/6/2001, and Christien Woody, dob: 5/10/1999, each face Murder 2nd Degree, Unlawful Use of a Weapon, and two counts of Armed Criminal Action charges.*
According to court documents filed this week, the defendants were identified by law enforcement after an extensive review of surveillance video of the shooting on the early morning of Feb. 20, 2020 in the Westport area of Kansas City. The video showed the defendants were among those in a white SUV from which video showed individuals firing weapons.
Three other defendants have been charged in connection with the Westport shooting that killed one, 17-year-old Devin Harris , and injured four others.
Prosecutors have requested a bond of $150,000 for each defendant.
