A Kansas City man faces felony charges in connection with a burglary in the early morning of Sept. 10, 2024, of a drug store in the Waldo area, Jackson County Prosecutor Jean Peters Baker announced today.
George Carter faces Burglary in the 2nd Degree and Property Damage in the 1st Degree.*
According to court records filed today, Kansas City police officers responded on Sept. 10, 2024, to the area of 75th and Wornall Road on a reported prowler. Officers arriving on the scene saw a black pickup truck facing north in the pharmacy drive of the store. The pickup then fled at a high rate of speed through the parking lot. Individuals reportedly were climbing through the drive-thru window. The window glass had been broken. Witnesses also saw them carrying trash bags filled with what they presumed were prescription drugs. While conducting an area canvass, officers encountered and detained the defendant. Officers obtained video from another incident on Sept 10, 2024, which showed a man in the same clothing the defendant was observed to be wearing in the drug store burglary. A black truck was the suspect vehicle in both incidents.
This case remains under investigation.
Prosecutors requested a bond of $50,000 cash.
