Jackson County Prosecutor Melesa Johnson today announced felony charges against a Kansas City man in connection with a fatal shooting that occurred in Independence, MO last week.
Jadon Stumph faces 2nd Degree Murder, Armed Criminal Action, and Unlawful Possession of a Firearm. * If convicted, he could face up to 50 years in prison.
According to court records, Independence police were dispatched to an address on May 13 regarding a shooting and located the deceased victim with two gunshot wounds in the driveway.
Witnesses reported the victim was sitting in a vehicle with another witness when a black vehicle with tinted windows pulled into the driveway. The defendant exited the vehicle and walked toward the witness in the vehicle, asking where his ex-girlfriend was. The witness told him they didn’t know. The defendant began opening the door of the vehicle and the victim exited, walking around the front of the vehicle toward the defendant. A brief argument ensued, and the defendant fired at the victim.
The defendant has a history of several municipal domestic assault offenses. He is being held on a $250,000 cash only bond.
