Three persons have been charged with felonies in connection with a carjacking on Monday near Admiral and Paseo in Kansas City, Jackson County Prosecutor Jean Peters Baker announced today.
Cheyenne N. Mellon, 17 (dob: 4/14/1999), faces Robbery 1st Degree, Armed Criminal Action and Resisting Arrest, while Zachary T. Webber, dob: 9/8/1996, and Caleb B. Patterson, dob: 1/21/1998, each face Robbery 1st Degree and Armed Criminal Action.*
According to court records, at a Phillips 66 station near 7th Street, a victim told police officers that he had been checking on fluids in his vehicle when he was stabbed by a tall man and hit on the head by a shorter man. They and a woman left in his vehicle, the victim stated. Police tracked the vehicle to 20th and Interstate 35. But the suspects fled from police, hitting a vehicle near 18th and Locust, as well as a building, where a gas line was severed. Mellon and Patterson were taken into custody, while Webber fled on foot until he was apprehended. The victim told police he had offered the suspects a ride after meeting them earlier at 31st and Main at a McDonald's. One suspect told police that the victim had been with the suspects for days and they had been conspiring to rob him.
Prosecutors requested bonds for each suspect of $150,000 cash.
