A Kansas City man faces felony Assault in the 1st Degree and other charges as a result of the stabbings yesterday of two juveniles in a Kansas City residence, Jackson County Prosecutor Jean Peters Baker announced today..
Gabriel Martinez faces Assault 1st Degree, an A felony, and Assault 1st Degree, a B felony, and two counts of Armed Criminal Action.*
According to court records filed the evening of July 9, 2024, Kansas City police officers were dispatched to a Kansas City residence on a disturbance in the early morning of July 9. At the scene, officers were told by a woman that her boyfriend, the defendant, was inside with three juveniles, ages 5, 10 and 15, and he was threatening to harm them. When officers heard a child screaming inside, officers kicked the door open. The defendant surrendered and was placed in cuffs. Officers determined two children were assaulted with a deadly weapon.
The defendant is being held on no bond.
