Media Advisory: The Kansas City No Violence Alliance hosts community event Saturday in South KC for Ruskin neighorhood struggling with crime
In a new effort to reduce crime, especially violence, KC NoVA and its partners will host a community event at St. James United Methodist Church, 7205 Longview Road in the Ruskin area of south Kansas City.
KC NoVA has invited more than 500 residents in the area to the meeting to learn more about crime problems in that neighborhood. KC NoVA is inviting residents to come to the meeting to share their safety concerns and to learn more about city and KC NoVA services that might be helpful to them. Last Saturday, KC NoVA distributed invites last Saturday to homes.
The event kicks off at 11 a.m. During the day, KC NoVA will present to the community, lunch will be available for residents and a trunk-or-treat at 2 p.m. will close the event.
The Kansas City No Violence Alliance is a collaboration of law enforcement and community leaders. It's governing board includes the Kansas City Police Department, FBI, ATF, the U.S. Attorney's Office, the Jackson County Prosecutor's Office, the Missouri Board of Probation and Parole, and the University of Missouri Kansas City. Top officials from KC NoVA, including Jackson County Prosecutor Jean Peters Baker will be available at the event.
