A Kansas City man faces felony charges for the assaults of a woman and a baby inside a vehicle being driven Thursday around Kansas City, Jackson County Prosecutor Jean Peters Baker announced today.
Deamonte L. Oliver faces Assault in the 1st Degree, Kidnapping in the 1st Degree, Domestic Assault in the 1st Degree, Harassment in the 1st Degree and three counts of Armed Criminal Action charges.*
According to court records, on Sept. 5, 2024, Kansas City Missouri Police Department officers responded to a call in the area of 23rd and Manchester Traffickway. On the call to police an unknown female is crying and a man can be heard threatening to kill someone. The female also mentioned there was a baby in the car. The female was also overheard saying, "Look, the baby is bleeding." The woman said she needed help and asked for her phone to be tracked. Officers stopped the suspect's vehicle and a female victim and a child were taken out of the vehicle. Both victims had signs of injury, including swelling and redness on the face and blood.
The defendant is in custody and is being held on no bond.
