A Jackson County jury on Thursday convicted Jose F. Hernandez of multiple felony charges in connection with the 2016 shooting of his former girlfriend, found bound and shot inside Blue Springs residence, Jackson County Prosecutor Jean Peters Baker announced today.
Jose F. Hernandez, dob: 12/29/1980, was found guilty of Domestic Assault 1st Degree, Armed Criminal Action, Felonious Restraint and Domestic Assault 2nd Degree.
Hernandez will be sentenced a future hearing.
According to court records, Blue Springs police found the victim inside a residence in the 2800 block of SE 6th Street early Thursday after receiving calls related to gun shots there. The officers found the victim balled up in the driveway. She was covered in blood. She had a rope tied behind her back from her left wrist to her right wrist. She was suffering from two gunshot wounds, one through the chest. She identified her shooter as "Jose." It also appeared as her face had been beaten. Witnesses reported hearing gun shots, hearing a woman screaming and seeing Hernandez' red car leave the area soon after. One witness saw Hernandez and the victim leaving the residence together. Blood and rope were found in Hernandez' room.
Assistant Prosecuting Attorneys Alison Schenkleberg and Devin Ledom prosecuted the case on behalf of the state of Missouri.
