A Kansas City man faces multiple felony charges, including Murder in the 2nd Degree, for a series of crimes on Wednesday evening in the area of the 3300 block of Linwood Boulevard in Kansas City, Jackson County Prosecutor Jean Peters Baker announced today.
Lorenzo Johnson faces Murder in the 2nd Degree, Robbery in the 1st Degree, Unlawful Use of a Weapon, Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, Resisting Arrest and three Armed Criminal Action charges.*
According to court records filed late last night, on the evening of Wednesday, Aug. 21, 2024, Kansas City Police Department officers were dispatched to the BP Gas Station in the 3300 block of Linwood Blvd on a shooting. Officers found the victim at the gas pumps. He had been mortally wounded by gunshot and was later declared deceased. The Medical Examiner ruled the death a homicide. Hours earlier the suspect had committed robberies in the area. The suspect took the victim's vehicle after the shooting. Officers later forced the stolen vehicle off the road while the suspect was driving. He attempted to flee on foot and officers took him into custody. He had the victim's vehicle title in his pocket.
The defendant is in custody and is being held on no bond.
