A Kansas City man, recently apprehended, has been charged in KC and Independence homicides, Jackson County Prosecutor Jean Peters Baker announced today.
Jerome T. Roberson, dob: 9/17/1986, faces Murder in the 2nd Degree and Armed Criminal Action for the fatal shooting on Nov. 2, 2017 of Michael W. Cantwell, who was found suffering from gunshot wounds in the 2500 block of Qunicy in Kansas City.
In addition, Roberson was charged today with Murder 2nd Degree and Armed Criminal Action in the fatal shooting on Oct. 28, 2017, of Brandon R. Brown.
According to court records, witnesses told Kansas City police that they saw Roberson either shoot into the victim's vehicle or heard gunfire and found the victim shot in the vehicle. In the Independence murder, police were dispatched to the 12800 block of East 47th Street on a reported assault and found the victim shot in the face. A witness told police that Roberson ran up and shot the victim, Brandon Brown. Then Roberson fled in a red vehicle. Another witness described seeing the defendant shoot the victim.
Roberson was taken into custody on Nov. 13, 2017.
Prosecutors requested bonds of $500,000 cash on each murder warrant.
