A Kansas City man faces charges of physical and sexual assault of his children over many years, drug use with them and child endangerment, while his wife faces charges related to the abuse, Jackson County Prosecutor Jean Peters Baker announced today.
Arthur S. Peterman, dob: 12/16/1970, faces 17 total criminal counts, including three Statutory Rape, four Child Molestation 1st Degree, seven Abuse or Neglect of a Child, one Endangering the Welfare of a Child and two misdemeanor counts of Furnishing Pornography to a Minor.*
Jenny L. Peterman, dob: 6/4/1979, faces three counts of Endangering the Welfare of a Child and three of Abuse or Neglect of a Child.*
According to court records filed today, Arthur Peterman abused an older child physically and sexually for years on a regular basis. He also assaulted a 9-year-old daughter, sometimes in the presence of his son, and the defendant displayed pornography and prepared methamphetamines in the home and smoked and snorted it with the children. One child tested positive for the drug after she was removed from the home.The son was removed with burns and cuts on his body. The children were regularly kept from school. No books or materials for homeschooling were found in the home. Jenny L. Peterman, the co-defendant, reportedly watched her husband's sexual abuse of the children, while physically abusing two of the children, who told authorities that they were instructed not to tell others what was going on in the home.
Prosecutors requested a bond of $150,000 on Arthur S. Peterman and $75,000 on Jenny L. Peterman.
