A 64-year-old Kansas City man has been charged in connection with a beating that left the woman victim in a coma, Jackson County Prosecutor Jean Peters Baker announced today.

According to court records filed today, Kansas City police responded a little after 11:30 p.m. on Tuesday to the 5400 block of Blue Ridge Cutoff, where residents in an apartment building reported an altercation in a specific apartment. Police found the victim inside the apartment. She had been beaten severely and was unconscious. Witnesses identified the defendant as the man who had been in the apartment with the victim. The defendant told police detectives that he and the victim had argued over missing items from his apartment.
Prosecutors requested a bond of $100,000 cash.
