An Independence man has been charged in the March 15 fatal stabbing of Theresa Chrisman in Kansas City, Jackson County Prosecutor Jean Peters Baker announced today.
Jared M. Witthar, dob: 6/4/1985, faces Murder 2nd Degree and Armed Criminal Action charges.*
According to court records, Kansas City police were dispatched to Sheffield Park in response to a body found in a wooded area of the Kansas City park. The death of Theresa Chrisman was ruled a homicide by the Jackson County Medical Examiner. Witnesses told police of the defendant and the victim's relationship. Police found traces of the victim's blood in her vehicle. And at the park, the police found a knife. DNA of the handle found the defendant was a possible contributor of DNA on the handle. Blood on the blade was determined to be from the victim.
Prosecutors requested a bond of $250,000.
