A Kansas City man who robbed a local drugstore this month has been charged with felony counts for those crimes, Jackson County Prosecutor Jean Peters Baker announced today.
William Lawrence Shade faces Robbery 1st Degree and Armed Criminal Action charges.*
According to court records, the defendant walked into a drug store on July 5, 2023, and demanded drugs at the pharmacy. When asked if he was robbing the store, he stated he was serious and showed a small handgun. The Kansas City Police Department released information to the public about the suspect from the robbery and he was identified. The defendant was taken into custody yesterday and a search warrant was served. Police found a small black handgun and other weapons. They also found clothing, pills and labelled pill bottles that matched items shown in the surveillance video of the robbery..
