A Blue Springs man, 25, faces multiple felony counts in connection to the fatal shooting on March 28 of Joseph Corum inside a residence in the 2400 block of Lister in Kansas City, Jackson County Prosecutor Jean Peters Baker announced today.
Jonathan S. Lowrey, dob: 12/19/1993, of Blue Springs, faces Murder 2nd Degree, Armed Criminal Action and Tampering with a Motor Vehicle 1st Degree.*
According to court records, Kansas City police responded in the early morning hours of March 28, 2019, to the 2400 block of Lister. A witness stated she was inside and heard the victim yelling at someone outside, then she heard a loud vehicle and a gunshot. Another gunshot. Then the vehicle drove away. Another witness said he heard arguing and saw a man arguing with a male later identified as the defendant. He saw the defendant go back to his vehicle, open the door and remove a long gun. Then he shot the victim three times before he drove away. Another witness provided video from her suveillance system showing the defendant sitting in the van. She stated he had 5 tally marks on his face which he stated was a "body count." On April 18, 2019, the defendant was arrested and transported for questioning. The detective noticed the defendant had 6 tally marks under his right eye. Also, DNA taken from shell casings recovered at the crime scene was matched to the defendant.
Prosecutors requested a bond of $250,000 cash.
