An Osawatomie, Kan., man has been charged with multiple felony counts in connection with firing a rifle at KCPD officers on Monday in the area of 53rd and Indiana in Kansas City, Jackson County Prosecutor Jean Peters Baker announced today.
Christopher D. Foster, dob: 4/19/1991, faces five counts of Assault 1st Degree and five counts of Armed Criminal Action.*
According to court records, Kansas City police were dispatched to the area of 53rd and Indiana on a reported disturbance. They found a man in a black pickup truck. Officers approached the man with their handguns out and commanded him to show his hands. He did not comply. He put a rifle to his shoulder at one point he did so as if he would fire it at officers. An officer fired his rile, and Foster fired several rounds in the direction of officers. The officers stayed under cover and the defendant fired more shots. Foster later surrendered. He had fired at least five KCPD officers. Foster told police he had run out of gas in that area and didn't remember shooting at officers.
Prosecutors requested a $200,000 bond.
