A Jackson County jury on Wednesday convicted a Kansas City man in a brutal April 2021 beating at a Kansas City store that included pointing a gun at a victim's head and pulling the trigger, Jackson County Prosecutor Jean Peters Baker announced today.
The jury convicted Lydell Walker, 11/22/1969, of Kidnapping in the 2nd Degree, Domestic Assault in the 2nd Degree, Assault in the 1st Degree, two counts of Armed Criminal Action and Unlawful Possession of a Firearm.
According to court records, Kansas City police officers were dispatched to the area of 27th and Van Brunt on a disturbance with a weapon. The victim told officers that the defendant pointed a gun at the victim, forced her into a vehicle. The defendant also pointed a gun at a victim's head and pulled the trigger. Fortunately, the gun didn't fire a bullet.
The defendant will be sentenced on June 13, 2024.
