A Kansas City, 24, has been sentenced to 29 years in prison for the fatal shooting in March 2022 of Anthony Villareal in the northeast area of Kansas City, Jackson County Prosecutor Jean Peters Baker announced today.

According to court records, Kansas City police responded on March 25, 2022, to the area of 24th and Quincy. They found the victim suffering from numerous gunshot wounds nearby. Surveillance video showed victim walking in the area of 24th and Denver when a maroon vehicle is shown on video chasing him until the suspect leaves the vehicle and chases victim, shooting him several times. Police identified the vehicle as registered to the defendant. A search of the vehicle revealed clothing in it that matched the clothing that the suspect shooter was wearing.
