A Kansas City man has been charged in the fatal beating on Wednesday of Eddie McCauley in the area of 8th and Flora in Kansas City, Jackson County Prosecutor Jean Peters Baker announced today.
Thaddeus Thompson, dob: 11/17/1989, faces Murder in the 2nd Degree and Armed Criminal Action charges.*
According to court records, witnesses told police that the defendant was upset and had accused the victim of touching him inappropriately while they slept in a tent on Tuesday night. On Wednesday, Thompson and the victim argue and Thompson grabbed a metal pole and struck the victim in the head, witnesses said. They left him for dead on the sidewalk. Thompson told police that he beat the victim with the metal pipe after he said he "snapped."
Prosecutors requested a bond of $250,000.
