A Kansas City man has been charged with causing a fatal vehicular accident after he fled Saturday night from police at a high speed through residential streets in Northeast Kansas City, Jackson County Prosecutor Jean Peters Baker announced today.
Samuel I. Delozier, 09810/1995, faces Involuntary Manslaughter 1st Degree.*
According to court records, police attempted to stop the Toyota that Delozier was driving near St. John and Van Brunt. But the defendant refused to stop. He fled at a high rate of speed, running stop signs and driving the wrong way on one-way streets, until he struck the victim's vehicle near Smart and Monroe. The vicitm, Thomas Colatrella, dob: 5/4/1986, later died of injuries from the vehicular crash.
Prosecutors requested a bond of $150,000 cash.
