A 30-year-old Kansas City woman has been charged in the fatal shooting last Sunday of Charles Harris inside a Kansas City residence, Jackson County Prosecutor Jean Peters Baker announced today.
Marvina Stemmons, dob: 12/3/2020, faces Murder 2nd Degree and Armed Criminal Action charges.*
According to court records, Kansas City police responded on Feb. 7, 2020 to the area of 40th and Wabash and found the victim deceased on a living room couch in a residence. Statements from witnesses and other evidence showed the victim was with defendant the evening of the fatal shooting in the residence where his body was found. The defendant told police detectives she had fired a shot at the victim after he had started to grab her in the living room. She wasn't certain if the shot hit him, but she put on her shoes and ran home, she told police.
Prosecutors requested a bond of $75,000 cash only.
