Jackson County Prosecutor Melesa Johnson today announced several felony charges against a man in connection with a fatal shooting that took place in south Kansas City earlier this month.
K’Von Goetz faces 2nd Degree Murder, three counts of Armed Criminal Action, Unlawful Use of a Weapon, and 1st Degree Assault. *
According to court records, Kansas City police were dispatched on a reported shooting on July 10 and located two victims suffering from gunshot wounds. One of the victims was confirmed deceased on the scene and the other was taken to an area hospital.
Detectives were able to connect the defendant to the shooting based on traffic cameras and witness reports. They were able to determine that the defendant was in an argument that led to two individuals being shot.
The defendant is being held on a $150,000 bond.
*Charges are only accusations, and the defendant is presumed innocent unless and until the defendant is either found guilty or pleads guilty.
