A Kansas City man has been charged in connection with six business robberies since July 5, 2024, Jackson County Prosecutor Jean Peters Baker announced today.
Manyiuel Edoon Caldwell faces six counts of Robbery in the 1st Degree and six counts of Armed Criminal Action.*
According to court records, Kansas City police were dispatched to a series of armed business robberies, starting in the early morning hours of July 5, 2024, thru July 7, 2024. Detectives reviewed surveillance video and identified the defendant. A search of his residence and associated vehicles revealed clothing identified in the robberies and an AK style rifle with wood on the barrel. In addition, an examination of the defendant's phone showed a "selfie" photo on July 5, 2024 in which the defendant was wearing distinctive clothing that was reported to be worn by the robber. And he's holding an AK style rifle with wood on the handle. The clothing and gun appear to be the same as appeared in three robberies the night of 7/5/2024. Detectives stated they believed the defendant to be a suspect in approximately 35 business robberies since December 2023.
The defendant is being held on no bond.
