Two Jackson County juries returned guilty verdicts late Thursday in separate cases addressing drug distribution and abuse of a child, Jackson County Prosecutor Jean Peters Baker announced today.
In the first case, a 31-year-old Kansas City man was convicted of two felony counts for dealing or distributing methamphetamine in Kansas City. The jury convicted Justin Williams, dob: 8/26/1992, of a B felony and a C felony. Williams will be sentenced at a future hearing.
According to court records in the Williams case, Kansas City police detectives purchased meth from the defendant on five occasions in late 2016 and 2017.
Another Jackson County jury returned guilty verdicts on Thursday afternoon in a second case that involved a minor who was injured by a relative. To protect the victim's identity, we are not releasing more information in that second case.
In the drug distribution case, assistant Jackson County prosecutors Eric Honea and Hannah Bedford prosecuted the case on behalf of the state of Missouri; in the second case, Devon Tarantino and Harrison Blue prosecuted the case on behalf of the state of Missouri.
