A Kansas City man has been charged in the fatal shooting early Monday morning, Feb. 12, 2024, in the area of 50th and Bellefontaine Avenue in Kansas City, Jackson County Prosecutor Jean Peters Baker announced today.
Charlie L Bowman faces Murder in the 2nd Degree, Armed Criminal Action and Unlawful Possession of a Firearm.*
According to court records, officers for the Kansas City Police Department were dispatched to the area and found a victim suffering from an apparent gunshot wound to the chest. She was pronounced deceased soon after responders arrived on scene. Officers contacted the defendant who had remained on the scene. Video footage showed a vehicle arrive at the scene with another vehicle pulling in behind it. The victim is observed getting out of the second vehicle and walking to the driver's door of the first vehicle, a Buick. A witness stated the victim had gone up to the car where the defendant was sitting and shot her twice. She tried to flee and collapsed on the sidewalk.
