A 41-year-old Oak Grove woman has been charged in connection with the fatal shooting of Michael Fisher, whose body was found in the basement of a Kansas City residence in March 2018, Jackson County Prosecutor Jean Peters Baker announced today.
Stephanie L. Nance, dob: 3/24/1978, faces Murder 2nd Degree, Kidnapping and two counts of Armed Criminal Action.*
According to court records, a KCPD Tactical Response Team responded to the residence and the person answering the door told them there was a deceased male inside. They found him in the basement. A witness told police there had been a verbal altercation at the residence about the victim accusing others of theft. The witness stated that Nance fired shots at the victim. When the victim said he was leaving, the witness told police that Nance fired more shots. The victim's wife also described how Nance had a gun at the time she heard a shot and Nance later held her against her will after the homicide.
A co-defendant in this case has already gone to trial.
Prosecutors requested a bond of $250,000 cash.
