A Kansas City man, 37, faces charges in connection with stealing on New Years Eve day a car in Kansas City that had a child inside, Jackson County Prosecutor Jean Peters Baker announced today.
Kenneth A. Alexander, dob: 2/10/1980, faces the Class A felony of Child Kidnappinig and Stealing a Motor Vehicle.*
According to court records, Belton police made contact with the defendant not long after it was reported in Kansas City that a child was in the back of a vehicle that that was taken at gunpoint in the 3500 block of Prospect. The defendant told Belton police he stole the car and needed directions back to Kansas City. The child was found unharmed in the back seat.
Prosecutors requested a bond of $75,000.
