A Kansas City, Kan., man faces multiple felonies after he jumped into a Kansas City, MO, police vehicle and fled from police on Tuesday, Jackson County Prosecutor Jean Peters Baker announced today.
Keith A. Conner, dob: 3/22/21988, faces Tampering in the First Degree, Resisting Arrest and Property Damage 1st Degree.*
According to court records filed today, Kansas City, MO, police officers on Tuesday morning responded to Interstate 70 and Beardsley Road on reports of a suspicious person. When they arrived the defendant confronted them. He asked for transportation, then the defendant jumped into a police vehicle and drove eastbound on I-70. Video from inside the vehicle recorded the defendant driving it. At one point, the defendant traveled northbound in the southbound lanes of traffic. Multiple patrol cars searched for the defendant and the police vehicle. As he fled, the defendant ignored stop signs and traffic controls, creating a danger. He drove through a barricade at 18th Street Expressway and Kansas Avenue in Kansas City, Kan. He struck a guard rail near there and fled on foot.
Prosecutors requested a $10,000 bond.
