Jackson County Prosecutor Melesa Johnson today announced felony charges against a Kansas City man in connection with a fatal shooting that occurred over the weekend.

Allen Jr. faces 2nd Degree Murder, two counts of Armed Criminal Action, one count of Discharge/Shoot Firearm at or from Motor Vehicle/Shoot at Person/Another Motor Vehicle/Building, and one count of Unlawful Possession of a Firearm. * If convicted, the defendant could face more than 30 years in prison.
According to court records, the Kansas City police arrived near Wabash Avenue and East 29th Street on June 1 regarding a shooting and located the victim laying on the ground inside the doorway of a residence. The victim was declared deceased at an area hospital.

*Charges are only accusations, and the defendant is presumed innocent unless and until the defendant is either found guilty or pleads guilty.
