A Kansas City man faces criminal charges for luring children inside a residence with candy and pet animals in order to touch them inappropriately, Jackson County Prosecutor Jean Peters Baker announced today.
Wesley McGlothlen faces Attempted Child Kidnapping, Sexual Misconduct Involving a Child Under 15 and Assault in the 4th Degree.*
According to court records, on Aug. 9, 2024, Kansas City police officers responded to a report that a child, age 5, had been lured inside the defendant's residence after he said he had a dog inside. He then pulled the child's pants down and had him sit on his lap exposing the child's genitals. On Sept. 3, 2024, officers contacted another victim who said the defendant asked her if she wanted chocolate. He pulled her inside and attempted to close the door. He pulled down her pants; she screamed and ran away. In interviews with the defendant, detectives reported that the defendant acknowledge he was "doing stuff" with children for the last six months.
The defendant has resided in the Columbus Park area for some time. The Juvenile Section of KCPD is seeking assistance in identifying any additional victims of the defendant. If you have such information, please contact the Juvenile Section at (816) 234-5150.
The defendant is in custody and is being held on no bond.
