An Independence teen has been charged in the fatal shooting of Jason Juszcyk outside a Truman Road gas station, Jackson County Prosecutor Jean Peters Baker announced today.
Camryn Wilkins, dob: 6/08/2002, faces charges of Murder 2nd Degree and Armed Criminal Action.*
According to court records, Jackson County sheriff’s deputies were called early Sunday morning, May 17, 2020, to the Truman Mart gas station in the 8300 block of Truman Road in the unincorporated area of Jackson County known as Blue Summit. A witness told a deputy the victim, Jason Juszcyk, and two others, including the defendant, had exchanged words. The victim gold the defendant to get home and yelled at the two men that "I’ll whoop your ass," before the defendant pulled a handgun and shot the victim. Video surveillance showed the victim putting his hands on Wilkins and pushing the defendant when Wilkins pulled the handgun and shot the victim. The defendant fled the scene after the shooting.
Prosecutors requested a $250,000/10 percent bond.
