A 34-year-old Raytown, Mo., man has been charged with DWI in connection with fatal vehicular crash last night on Interstate 435, Jackson County Prosecutor Jean Peters Baker announced today.
Terry M. Jones, dob: 1/20/1983, faces DWI, a Class B felony because it resulted in the death of someone who was not a passenger in the vehicle he operated.*
According to court records filed today, Kansas City police on Wednesday evening responded to the area of Interstate 435 and Oldham Road on a multi-vehicle collision. They determined a Dodge truck was traveling at a high rate of speed and lost control, crossed over the center median and entered southbound traffic lanes. At least eight vehicles were involved in the collision and the driver of one vehicle, Hawa A. Mohamud, died as a result of her injuries. A DUI officer responding to the scene detected the strong odor of an alcoholic beverage. The defendant refused to submit to a test of his blood, but a search warrant was obtained and the defendants blood was taken for analysis. The defendant previously was convicted of DWI in Jackson County.
