A Grandview man, 24, charged today with two counts of Murder 2nd Degree, other felonies in February shootings in Kansas City, Jackson County Prosecutor Jean Peters Baker announced today.
Damyon D. Cook, dob: 12/23/1998, faces two counts of Murder 2nd Degree, Assault 1st Degree and three counts of Armed Criminal Action charges.*
According to court records filed today, Kansas City police were dispatched Feb. 8, 2023 to the 5200 block of E. 28th Terrace on a reported disturbance. Twenty gunshots reportedly were fired into a residence. Police located two victims, one male and one female inside a van parked in the driveway. Both victims, Deondrea M. Brand and Derrick L. Rich, were later identified as the victims. Witnesses identified the defendant as being at the crime scene. The defendant's DNA was found on a shell casing recovered at the crime scene
